Trip Report:

This past weekend, I headed to Daejeon, which is about two hours south of Seoul. I went down to Daejeon with my friend Jin. When we got to Daejeon, we called the Janggae Resort to see if the coaster was running. The coaster at Janggae only runs when a large group comes to the park. Upon learning that the coaster would not be running, we decided to go to Kumdori Land. This would be my second visit to this park.

Kumdori Land opened in 1993 as part of Daejon's Science Expo Park. KL occupies a small corner of the Expo site, but it packs in about 20 rides, including three coasters-The Scream Machine, Kumdori Coaster and Space Adventure. The park is about the size of Lake Compounce and is very easy to get around in. It is laid out in an oval. Jin and I decided to ride the Kumdori Coaster first. This is a standard Vekoma Roller Skater. The ride cycle is two circuits. It is fun, but it is just like several others I have ridden. We took a spin on the Blizzard next. This is a smaller version of Delirium at Paramount's Kings Island. It was a lot of fun. We rode the Space Adventure next. This is a small indoor Vekoma Coaster that packs a punch. It isn't much taller than a Roller Skater, but has several twists and turns and a split lift. The first lift goes up about 15 feet and then there is a right turn and the second lift that leads to the indoor portion of the ride. Space Adventure is easily one of the best junior coasters I have ridden. It is like a minature Flight of Fear.

We also took several spins on the Scream Machine. This is a Vekoma muli-looper. It is pretty smooh for a vekoma looping coaster. Although we liked this coaster, we agreed that Space Adventure is the best ride in the park. There is a log flume, a large ferris wheel (which we went on twice) and several other rides. Kumdori Land is easily one of Korea's best parks.
