(January 31, 2005) – Kids and parents hit it big…REAL BIG, when Paramount's Carowinds opens the 2005 season on March 19 with the introduction of the largest Nickelodeon® area at any theme park in the world, featuring five new attractions and an extreme Nick makeover of the park's kids' areas.
Fly, twirl, swirl, swing, laugh, scream and experience the best that being a kid has to offer. Nickelodeon™ Central, based on popular characters and shows from the number one children's entertainment brand in the world, becomes five times bigger than before, loaded with more than 20 attractions including five new attractions that kids and their parents can enjoy together!
Five new attractions in Nickelodeon Central include: - Phantom Flyers – These interactive phantom vehicles allow free ‘spirits' of all ages to steer their course swooping up and down, weaving side to side, and gliding through the air with ghost-fighting superhero Danny Phantom™!
- The Flying Dutchman's™ Revenge – Ahoy Mateys! Guests navigate rotating mini-pirate ships and help Patrick Star™ escape the evil pirate specter! Pivot, twist and turn a full 180 degrees while sloping up and down along the Bikini Bottom terrain.
- Little Bill's™ Cruisers – Guests set sail with Little Bill on mini speed boats, each with its own anchor bell!
- Dora the Explorer's™ Azul™ Adventure – Kids and parents are all aboard this four-minute ride on Azul, the train. Families join Dora™ and Boots™ the monkey on a storybook adventure. Riders encounter sights from Dora's world while listening and watching the story unfold along their trek.
- Nick Live - An interactive family game show featuring friendly competition, loads of trivia and, in true Nickelodeon style, pies and slime!

From Dora the Explorer, Diego™ joins the cast of more than a dozen NickToons characters at the park. Bringing smiles, laughter and plenty of hugs, kids can get up close and personal with their favorite NickToons celebrities. Parental paparazzi are welcome for this red carpet spectacular!
Nickelodeon Central incorporates all three Nickelodeon networks, including Nick Jr.® and TV Land® and a dozen Nickelodeon shows throughout the 16 rides and other attractions. The area also includes the NickToons Café, four other eateries and an expanded Nickelodeon Store, filled with kids' favorite Nickelodeon games, gadgets and goodies.
Nickelodeon Central also features numerous creature comforts that help make a day at Paramount's Carowinds as relaxing as it is enjoyable including a smoke-free environment, plenty of seating & shade and a baby care facility for the park's youngest guests.
This one-of-a-kind Nickelodeon immersion brings kids' favorite Nickelodeon TV programs to life. The 15-acre playground highlights the network's newest shows in addition to other Nickelodeon favorites currently featured at the park such as SpongeBob SquarePants™, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius™, Blue's Clues™ and many more. Nickelodeon Central encompasses the area of the park formerly known as Animation Station and Zoom Zone. Nickelodeon Central opens March 19, when the 105-acre theme park opens for its 32nd season.
Paramount's Carowinds Information
Paramount's Carowinds offers guests more than 105 action-packed acres featuring more than 60 world-class rides, shows and Hollywood-themed attractions for all ages including roller coasters, water rides, and a 13-acre water park – WaterWorks. Children under 3 are admitted free. Season Passes also are available. Admission to the WaterWorks water park is free with admission to Paramount's Carowinds.
Paramount's Carowinds opens for the 2005 season on March 19 and operates on a weekend-only schedule through May 15. The park is open for daily operation May 20 through Aug. 28, and weekend-only operation resumes Sept. 10 – Nov. 6. The park also is open March 25 & 28; April 1, 4, & 29; May 6 & 13; and Sept. 5. The park is closed to the public on Sept. 24 – 25 and Oct. 1 – 2.
