| Press Release: | Louisville, KY – The year 2001 is an historic year for Six Flags parks around the globe…Six Flags celebrates the company’s 40th anniversary! Six Flags has revolutionized the theme park industry over the past four decades with a number of world industry firsts, including the steel coaster, the double-looped coaster and the log flume. Six Flags Over Texas, the original Six Flags park which opened in 1961, will hold year-long celebrations to commemorate the company’s anniversary.
Six Flags was also the first park to offer a single gate price for all attractions. In honor of the 40th anniversary, Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom will offer a special discounted rate during the first two months of operation. Instead of paying a park entry fee of $32.99 for adults, and half price for children under 48 inches and senior citizens, all guests will “pay-one-price”: $19.99. This rate applies to adults, children and seniors. Children 3 years of age and younger will still get in for FREE! The “pay-one-price” will be offered during the months of April and May. On May 25, the beginning of daily operations, the regular park entry fee will resume.
In addition to the special pricing, Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom will hold an anniversary celebration during the month of July, as well as special “40” discounts throughout the summer. Specific details will be announced at a later date.
