Ghost Town Partners LLC purchase the park from founder Ronald Braxton Coburn.
In the fall of 2004 a group of business leaders in Maggie Valley has formed a non-profit corporation dedicated to reopening Ghost Town. The organization calls themselves "GHOST" for Greater Haywood Opportunities for Supporting Tourism. They hoped to have the park operating the following summer. It isn't clear if this effort is related to the park's change of ownership in 2006 followed be the reopening in 2007.
Park founder Ronald Braxton Coburn dies at age 90.
