| Notizen: | Astroland operated on two parcels of land at Coney Island. The larger of the two parcels with Surf Avenue, West 10th Street, the Boardwalk and Jones Walk as it's boundaries was the land the Albert Family, Astroland's owners, owned. The Albert Family sold this parcel to Thor Equities in late 2006 and leased it back from Thor Equities for the next two seasons. A lease agreement could not be reached for the 2009 season and what was Astroland closed.
Astroland has since the early 1970s leased the Cyclone adjacent the park from the city of New York and operated the Cyclone. Even after the closing of the original Astroland property, the Albert Family continues to operate the Cyclone using the Astroland name. |
