| As the park's southern 1/3rd was closed the Lightning Bolt was moved to the park's northern edge where the Rio Grande Cantina was. |
| After being moved, the Lightning Bolt operated for some time in its original two helices. Later in 1997 the length was extended from it's original 1100 feet to 2400 feet by Arrow Dynamics. The additional track and a second lift hill was built over the Grand Canyon Rapids ride. |
