History: In early 1936, severe termite damage was discovered, and the ride was abandoned.  Portions were dismantled, but other parts were allowed to fall down, with removal not completed until the end of 1938.  The station building was renovated and used as a shelter in 1940.
1927 advertisements claim an enlarged Gorge Ride.
Etymology: This roller coaster was described as a scenic railway by the newspapers in its first year, but called at its opening 'The Gorge.'  It was usually named as the "Gorge Ride", occasionally "Gorge Scenic Railway", or "Scenic Railway."
