Onde: Playland Park was located on the south end of Bitter Lake.  The R. H. Thomson Junior High School was built on the west end of former park and a Gov-Mart store (which later became the Rite Aid strip mall) was built on the east side.  Bitter Lake Park occupies what was the heart of the park.

This northern area of Seattle is also known as Shoreline
Timeline: Leo F. Smith, president of the Washington Amusement Company, and co-investor, W. A. Logus open the park.
Carl E. Phare purchases the park.
A fire destroys the park office and concession building.  The west end of the Dipper was also damaged, but quickly repaired.
