History: Marine World was originally located in Redwood, CA and operated as simply "Marine World" from 1968 to 1985.  The park was then relocated to it's present location and called "Marine World Africa USA".

In 1996 Premier Parks purchased the park and two years later started adding amusement rides.  Prior to this there were no amusement rides at Marine World.  Premier Parks then purchased the Six Flags corporation and assumed the Six Flags moniker.  This brought the Six Flags name to Marine World for the 1999 season.
