| Playland Park was located on the south end of Bitter Lake. The R. H. Thomson Junior High School was built on the west end of former park and a Gov-Mart store (which later became the Rite Aid strip mall) was built on the east side. Bitter Lake Park occupies what was the heart of the park.

| On the 22nd of August, 1953 about half the park was destroyed by fire. The coaster was damaged, but not a loss. The park remained open for the remainder of the season. |
