Experience the tallest, fastest and only looping wooden roller coaster in the world, Son of Beast™, at Paramount's Kings Island™

Kings Island, Ohio - Imagine the enormous nature of Son of Beast, Paramount's Kings Island's newest coaster creation. The creature towers more than 218 feet high (more than 21 stories, the tallest in the world), roars down hills at more than 78 mph (the fastest in the world), and contains the only Earth-flipping wooden roller coaster loop on the planet. The adventure begins April 15, 2000.

Modeled after its legendary father The Beast® (the world's longest wooden roller coaster), Son of Beast will thrill generations of adventure seekers.

"The entire ride will take more than three minutes, and you'll live a lot in those three minutes!" said Tim Fisher, executive vice president and general manager of Paramount's Kings Island. "There are so many design elements in this ride; world-record height and speed, immense banking, a variety of g-forces, from the feeling of near weightlessness, up to about 4.5 g's, and the world's only wooden roller coaster loop. This is a perfect example of when a son grows up to be larger and a little more radical than his father."

Guests ready for the adventure of a lifetime will enter the attraction through Outpost 5 loading station. Once cleared and prepared for their exploration, guests board a Perimeter Surveillance Vehicle designed specifically for the unknown challenges that await.

Son of Beast completes a two-year, $40-million expansion of the park and increases Paramount's Kings Island's world record total to seven: tallest wooden roller coaster (218 feet, Son of Beast), longest wooden roller coaster drop (214 feet, Son of Beast), only looping wooden roller coaster (Son of Beast), the fastest wooden roller coaster (78 mph, Son of Beast), longest wooden roller coaster in the world (7,352 feet, Beast), the most wooden roller coaster track at one park (Racer, Beast, Beastie, Son of Beast, totaling 22,619 feet), and the tallest gyro-drop free-fall ride (315 feet, DROP ZONE™).

The park opens for weekend operation only Saturday, April 15. The park is open daily from Saturday, May 27 through Sunday, Aug. 21, except Sunday, June 4 when the park is closed to the general public. The park reopens Friday, Aug. 25 through Sunday, Aug. 27; Saturday, Sept. 2 through Monday Sept. 4; Sunday Sept. 24; Sunday, Oct.1; Sunday, Oct. 8; and remains open weekends through Sunday, Oct. 29.
