Press Release

Amusement park adopts family name

Name Change, New Rides and Season Pass Program Part of 2001 Plans

In a lasting tribute to their parents and to build brand identity with their famous spaghetti sauce, the seven DelGrosso sons and daughters announced today they are changing the name of their popular Tipton, PA amusement park. Effective immediately, DelGrosso's Amusement Park will replace Bland's Park. As the family gathered today to make the announcement, crews were busy outside changing park signs to reflect the new name.

Family spokesperson, Joe DelGrosso, said the name change was made for a variety of reasons. "My mother and late father worked for half-a-century setting the standards we strive for everyday. They gave a large portion of their lives making sure this Park is always safe, clean and affordable for every guest. DelGrosso's Amusement Park is their legacy and it deserves their name."

DelGrosso also announced the first of many co-marketing projects between DelGrosso's Amusement Park and DelGrosso Spaghetti Sauce. "Distribution of specially marked jars of DelGrosso Spaghetti Sauce will carry coupons for up to $4.00 off the purchase of any pass at DelGrosso's Amusement Park. These coupons will be valid any Tuesday through Friday all summer long."

"This gives us the ability to distribute over four million coupons in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, West Virginia and New York. If they like our sauce, we think they will love DelGrosso's Amusement Park and everything there is to see and do here in Central Pennsylvania," DelGrosso added.

For the first time in history, a season pass will be available for the newly named Park. Beginning on November 10th, the public will be able to purchase a season pass that will be good for unlimited Waterworks, Rapids and Rides -- all-day, any day the Park is open during the season. The cost of the pass will be $59.95 and will be on sale at the Giant Eagle stores in Altoona, Roaring Spring and Ebensburg, the DelGrosso's Amusement Park office or by calling toll-free at 1-866-684-3538.

To celebrate the new name, DelGrosso's Amusement Park will debut two new rides on the midway in 2001. The Sea Dragon resembles a huge pirate ship that swings 40 riders at a time from left-to-right at nearly 90-degree angles. The Balloon Race will appeal to the slightly more timid riders. Guests will climb into simulated baskets hanging beneath miniature hot air balloons. As the ride turns, the balloons and baskets fly through the air.

Opening day for the 2001 inaugural season for DelGrosso's Amusement Park will be Sunday, May 6th. As always, parking and admission will be free and guests will have the option to purchase an all-day pass with or without the Tipton Rapids water slides.
