A new champion emerges at Six Flags Over Texas; Colossal coaster Titan destined to become instant legend; Titan Ignites Anticipation for Six Flags 40th Anniversary Celebration

Arlington, TX - November 14, 2000 - In Greek mythology, during a period of lawlessness prior to the rise of the Olympians, twelve gods of enormous size, strength and power ruled the earth with absolute force - they were the Titans! Six Flags Over Texas will enthrone a new roller coaster of mythical proportions, destined to rule the thrill world, the largest, most powerful ride in the history of Texas - Titan!

Towering 255 feet above the earth, the muscular steel superstructure features one of the world's mightiest drops at hyper speeds of 85 miles an hour. Strapped two abreast aboard the sleek bright-orange trains, guests will experience thrills of mythological proportions. One hundred feet taller than the legendary Texas Giant, Titan is faster than strikes of Zeus' lightning and features over a mile of twisted steel with huge sweeping spirals. Guests will experience epic thrills as they speed through a full three-and-a half minutes of spectacular plunges, a 120-foot long tunnel shrouded in total darkness, a series of camel back hills, huge spiral curves, and high-speed helixes!

"Titan makes a powerful statement about Six Flags Over Texas maintaining its status as one the greatest theme parks in the world," said Steve Calloway, vice president and general manager of Six Flags Over Texas. "We have always known 2001 would be a monumental year for the park and we plan to have a Texas-sized celebration marking 40 years of what has become an institution. Titan will be the most popular ride at Six Flags Over Texas. This coaster is destined to become the 'Gold Standard' for mythological thrills."

The adventure will begin for Guests as they approach the park. Titan with its 255-foot lift will dominate the Southern sky and become a signature icon for years to come. The enormous height and size of the coaster will start the adrenaline rush even before Guests park their car! "Six Flags is home to the top-rated wooden roller coaster in the world, the one and only Texas Giant! And next year, we will become home to the top rated steel coaster…Titan," said Calloway.

"This is a great celebration for coasters and park enthusiasts everywhere," said Timothy L. Baldwin, South Regional Representative for the American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE). "The Texas Giant gained worldwide attention for its unprecedented heights in wooden coasters. To have a steel coaster tower 100 feet taller than the Giant is a massive undertaking that will have coaster fans counting the days until its premier."

The opening of Titan in the early Spring of 2001 will kick off a yearlong celebration as Six Flags Theme Parks turns forty. This is a historic event that will lead the world's largest regional theme park company into a year-long celebration around the world.

It started in 1961 when Texas oil baron Angus Wynne pioneered the regional theme park industry with the opening of Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington. Wynne built a broad entertainment product close to where people lived, making it convenient and affordable. Six Flags Over Texas elevated the old amusement park concept to a true theme park experience with ingenious use of themed presentations, innovative rides and action-packed shows geared to entertain the entire family.

Forty years later the Six Flags brand flies over 37 parks in six countries. Today the Six Flags brand is so well known it ranks #1 with teens over such powerful names as Nike, McDonald's, M&Ms and Coca-Cola. Also, Six Flags tied with McDonald's as the #1 ranked brand among children (ages 6-11).

The excitement begins in January 2001 as Six Flags Theme Parks kicks off a global celebration honoring 40 years of family fun that only Six Flags can deliver.

Six Flags, Inc. is the world's largest regional theme park company with a total of 37 parks throughout the United States, Europe and Latin America. Six Flags parks serve 19 of the 25 largest metropolitan areas in the United States. The parks annually host approximately 50 million guests Worldwide.
