History: AstroWorld hired William Cobb to design and build this coaster after the park’s plan to buy and relocate the Coney Island Cyclone, which was in danger of being torn down at the time, proved too expensive.
Facts: In 1979 the first turn was lowered by about two feet to prevent valleying during high winds.
  The Texas Cyclone was a mirror image of the original Coney Island Cyclone.
