Facts

When the Tonnerre de Zeus opened, it had two blue trains by PTC. For the 2004 season two new PTC trains were purchased -- one red and one blue.

Etymology

'Tonnerre de Zeus' is French for 'Thunder of Zeus'.
After the ride's large overhaul/refurbishment, it was renamed 'Tonnere 2 Zeus' in 2022. The new name refers to the redesigned ride but the pronounciation is a small play on words as well. '2' in French is pronounced as 'deux' which strongly resembles the simple 'de' from the coaster's original name.

Notes

Over the winter seasons 2019, 2020 and 2021 The Gravity Group did a systematic retrack of 'Tonnerre de Zeus'. When the phased refurbishment was finished in 2022, The Gravity Group also had altered some parts of the layout (banking of curves, adding of small hills/hops, a 90° banked hill,...) which results in more airtime. The 7x2x2 PTC trains were replaced with two new trains by Gravitykraft Corporation. On each train the final row of two seats is facing backwards.
Before the 2022 modifications, the track length was 4044 ft.
The park included part of the old structure with one of the old trains on it as an easter egg. This can be seen on the left side of the lift hill when riding, as well as during the ride in the large helix on the east side of the layout.

Theme

In Greek mythology, Zeus was the king of gods, and is associated as being a weather god. His weapon was a thunderbolt, which he hurled at those who displeased him.
