Initially, Mantis was to be named "Banshee". In Irish folklore, a banshee is a female spirit whose wail was said to foretell a death in the family. After this definition was printed in a local newspaper, the "Banshee" name was dropped in favor of "Mantis". The original "Banshee" logo would later come to be that of Dorney Park's Steel Force. |
A "Rougarou" is a werewolf-like creature in French folklore. |
For the 2015 season the Mantis was given new trains and a new name, turning the former stand up roller coaster into a floorless roller coaster. |
The Mantis had a theoretical hourly capacity of 1800 riders per hour. When the ride was changed from the Mantis to Rougarou, the dispatch logic changed. Previously during three train operation a train could be released when the prior cleared the lift. As Rougarou, a train is not released until the prior reaches the bottom of the dive loop. This change makes the Rougarou's capacity something less than it was as Mantis. |
The model above being listed as "Stand-Up Coaster" is intentional. rcdb make/model logic is based on how the ride was originally built. In contrast, the design field does reflect modifications made later on. |
