A roller coaster in Dutch is also called an "achtbaan", meaning literally 'eighttrack' referring to the very common layout of coasters in the early days. Duinrell chose for a stylized way of writing it as Kikker8baan, meaning 'Frog' '8' 'track'. The coaster it replaces, Kikkerachtbaan, used the same spelling for a while some years ago.
This new coaster will replace Kikkerachtbaan which has reached its end of life at having run for 40 years. Duinrell wanted a similar coaster. This new coaster is a mirror image of the original Kikkerachtbaan and has as much as possible a similar layout. It is built on the same location. Since Zierer no longer manufactures Tivoli-type track, this coaster is a redesigned Large Tivoli layout using the Force track system. Another difference is that the train will be shorter at 14 cars and not 20.
This coaster has a frog theme, just as the coaster it replaces. The coaster is also themed to the world of motocross. This is a reference to the park's early history. In the 1940s and 1950s, the park featured a 4 km (2,49 miles) long motocross track.
