Etymology

'Pierre de Tonnerre' is French for 'Thunder Rock/Stone'.

Theme

The coaster has an asteroid theme. The name 'Pierre de Tonnerre' is a reference to the asteroid that crashed onto earth back on November 7th 1492 at the present location of the park. The people in the 15th century called it a 'thunder rock/stone' for the amount of noise and lightning it was accompanied with when crashing. It is famous for being the first documented case of an extra-terrestrial object being retrieved and documented by mankind and it is now kept at City Hall of the town of Ensisheim, close to the park.
At the same time, the asteroid theme is also a reference to the asteroid B612, the home planet of the park's titular character 'Le Petit Prince'.
The ride has 5 asteroid themed cars, named Roi, Vaniteux, Allumeur de Réverbère, Businessman and Géographe.
