The present Grinyland started as a nature park with peat, moors and waterways. In the 1940s, the people from the nearby city of Reims used the peat to heat their houses. In the 1970s Mr. Martin took over the central farm in the area and decided on making a nature park for people to visit. His son Emmanuel Martin took over in the 90s with the same focus on nature visit and small boat tours on the waterways. Since the park was a local success, Emmanuel Martin started developing it with rides and play areas into what the park has become today.
