This roller coaster was described as a scenic railway by the newspapers in its first year, but called at its opening 'The Gorge.' It was usually named as the "Gorge Ride", occasionally "Gorge Scenic Railway", or "Scenic Railway." |
Advertisements claim an enlarged Gorge Ride. | |
Early in the year, severe termite damage was discovered, and the ride was abandoned. Portions were dismantled, but other parts were allowed to fall down, with removal not completed until the end of 1938. The station building was renovated and used as a shelter in 1940. |
The Gorge Ride was owned by William H. Glenn and Designed by the firm of Miller & Baker, built by Perry Barge, with W. Stanley Treser named as the engineer on the project. |
