Familyland opened as an amusement park and in the 1980s expanded westward transforming into a water park. Treasure Island, an indoor waterpark and resort was later constructed along the parkway where Familyland's amusement rides existed prior. In 2004, Familyland & Treasure Island were purchased by Mt. Olympus which expanded to the south incorporating the two properties. Sometime between 2017 and 2022 most of the old water attractions were removed to become a new parking lot leaving the "Tidal Wave" (wavepool) as perhaps the only Familyland attraction to remain.
