There may be a connection between Trimper's Rides and "Melvin's Amusement Rides" in the 1960s. Trimper's Rides may have purchased "Melvin's Amusement Rides" which was advertised to be located on the corner of South Division Street and Baltimore Avenue. Trimper's Rides is on the southeast corner of this intersection. The Trimper family was involved in the area since before 1900. Both Dan Trimper and then Dan Trimper Jr. ran the park and both served as mayors of the city. Their holdings were called the Windsor Resort and included a couple of hotels. Up until the 1960s they are thought to have had only indoor rides of a carousel and kiddie rides. In the mid 1960s they expanded to outdoor rides and this corresponds to the Wild Mouse associated with "Melvin's Amusement Rides". |
