History

Marine World originally opened in 1968 in Redwood, CA. In 1972 the name was lengthened to "Marine World Africa USA". After the 1985 season the Redwood location closed and the park was moved to it's current location in Vallejo.

In 1996 Premier Parks purchased the park and two years later started adding amusement rides. Prior to this there were no amusement rides at Marine World. Premier Parks then purchased the Six Flags corporation and assumed the Six Flags moniker. This brought the Six Flags name to Marine World for the 1999 season.
